FUNDED PROJECTS
It is remarkable that a music festival where every event is free to enter and every musician is paid, which has no main sponsors and no external funding sources, can make such a major contribution to organisations right across the county.
In recent years a total of over £200,000 has been donated by the charitable trust to a variety of musical and community causes, some examples of which are:
-
Purchase of musical instruments and provision of a therapist at Brighter Life Day Centre, Pershore.
-
Purchase of musical instruments and support for music teaching for various organisations including Tewkesbury Town Band and Boys Brigade, Lanesfield Boys & Girls Brigade, Fort Royal School Friends, Worcester.
-
Funding the Upton Blues Festival Workshop Scheme, which provides blues workshops in schools across the Midlands.
-
Providing competition prizes for Brockhampton Primary School.
-
Supporting the Upton upon Severn children’s book hunt.
-
Supporting Malvern Centenary Choir’s “Dazzle” event.
-
Purchase of planters for Upton in Bloom.
-
Providing equipment to support theatre workshops at Perfect Circle Theatre in Malvern.
-
Funding The Hanleys Society’s archaeological investigations in Hanley Castle.
-
Conversion of Upton’s neglected tennis courts into a multi-use children’s play area.
These are just a few examples of the projects the festival charitable trust has, and continues to support. To find out more about the difference that the Trust's grants have made, see below.
